Ah, the unexpected rest day—the sort that creeps in not because I planned it, but because my four-legged friend, Merlin, had other ideas. Poor Merlin had a bit of a tummy upset overnight, which meant I spent more time being on nighttime nurse duty than I’d intended. So, when morning rolled around, working from home sounded like the best plan. And let’s be real, it also meant a precious, slightly longer lie-in to reclaim some of that lost sleep.
The evening was all about pure relaxation—a well-earned, calming soak in the bath with Epsom salts. There’s just something about easing tired muscles, letting the warmth work its way through, that makes every bit of training worthwhile. And I wasn’t rushing. Tonight was all about slowing down, recharging, and allowing myself that early night I’d been meaning to take all week.
Sometimes, the best preparation for the next challenge is found not in pushing harder, but in pausing, letting everything settle, and getting a good night’s sleep.
